Decorte keynote & panel on healthtech at Global Summit on AI in London (watch video)
At the Global Summit on Open Problems in AI in London, Decorte CEO Roeland gave a keynote on deeptech funding, followed by a recorded panel on AI in healthtech (see video above). ๐
Specifically, he wanted to address why we hear about so many exciting healthtech breakthroughs in the news, but rarely if ever then see them deployed in the market to fix our widely acknowledged crumbling and unsustainable healthcare and insurance systems.
At Decorte Future Industries weโve built and are building tech that is able to extract complex health data (such as heart health, murmurs, etc.) from sound, simply by holding your smartphone against your body. Pre-diagnostic cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal and neurological tests can cost less than a penny to run, and can enable the real democratisation of preventative healthcare.
But whether or not such tech will be the hands of the many fully depends on our go-to-market getting the interplay right between patients, payers and providers. There have been many extremely exciting and well-funded technologies, especially arising from academia, that focused entirely on the tech and floundered as soon as it sought toscale and commercialise. Building amazing tech is only the first entrepreneurial battle, getting the gtm right is the war.
