Mk 2 Button

2022—2024

The second of our data gathering devices. Mk 2 stripped away the vest for a portable thumb-sized design. The Mk 2 was our last data-gathering device, used in clinical trials for data collection, before SoNUS switched to a smartphone-first approach.

Mk 1 Vest

2019—2021

The first of our data gathering devices. A proof of concept, the vests contained a sound-based module on the chest and were deployed in contexts such as the care sector where data needed to be sent directly to the cloud, without connecting to a phone or other third party device.

Mk 2 Button

The BioKey Mk2 Button was our latest custom and proprietary data gathering device, gathering the first datasets used for the development of SoNUS. Enabling a comfortable way to continuously gather audio, the devices were built to be deployed in clinical trials and data collection studies across the world, including in Asia and the US.

The Mk 2 device attaches to the user’s clothing using a magnetic fastener, and continuously gathers audio, temperature, and movement data. Building upon Mk1, we reduced the device footprint to be almost unnoticeable to the wearer, whilst retaining all of our core unique features.

Mk2 had two microphones, one facing outward, and one facing towards the user’s body. Sound from the outward facing microphone was used to subtract background (non-body) sounds from the audio collected by the inner microphone, to ensure the highest quality audio files and was used to train SoNUS to differentiate between environmental and body sounds.

Mk 1 Vest

The Mk 1 smart clothing vest was a proof of concept, based on the earliest exoskeleton solutions built by Decorte Future Industries. By incorporating the features of a digital stethoscope into a fully functional cellular LTE-connected two-way communication device, it was able to continuously stream health data into the cloud for personal health monitoring, without any setup or dependence on personal wireless networks.

The Mk 1 was the final evolution of the original non-audio-based exoskeleton prototypes developed by Decorte between 2018-2020. Its primary markets were the Care and Defence sectors, with the R&D for Decorte’s original exoskeleton prototypes holding an endorsement from the UK Ministry of Defence, and their development supported by the UK government.

When seeking cost-effective ways to extract human health data, between 2020 and 2021 Decorte Future Industries started developing SoNUS, and the Mk 2 was created as a more accessible, intuitive continuous data gathering device.
